William J. Golding, RPF RPBio.
BSc. Forestry; University of Alberta - 1986 Diploma; Civil Engineering Tech.; Northern Alberta Institute of Technology – 1981 Diploma; Advanced Silviculture; University of British Columbia (SIBC) - 1996 Mr. Golding has acquired over twenty years of diversified forestry experience, particularly in northern British Columbia and Alberta. He has been employed by government forestry agencies and consulting firms. Mr. Golding has been a principal of Silvicon Services Inc. since 1988 and holds the position of Operations Manager. As Operations Manager, Mr. Golding provides corporate leadership in the development of products and services to better serve Silvicon’s expanding client base. Further responsibilities include the supervision of professionals and technicians in the delivery of those services in areas such as planning, research, silviculture and engineering.
Mr. Golding's experience has focused primarily on the integration of silviculture and forest engineering considerations with non-timber and environmental resources. He also has been involved with numerous training initiatives over the past 15-years. Of particular note is Mr. Golding’s involvement with the development and delivery of the Wildlife/Danger Tree Assessors Course. Since 2004 Mr. Golding has represented a major Licensee as its Woodlands Manager. In this role he is responsible for the management of the woodlands program including licence administration, cost control and reporting, fibre procurement, block development, silviculture, public and First Nations consultation and Ministry of Forest liaison. Mr. Golding is currently the contract General Manager for Wetzin'kwa Community Forest Corp., a CFA jointly owned by the Village of Telkwa and the Town of Smithers.
Robert W. Roulston, RPF
BSc. Forestry; University of Alberta - 1986 Diploma; Forest Resource Tech.; College of New Caledonia – 1981 Diploma; Advanced Silviculture; University of British Columbia (SIBC) - 1997 Mr. Roulston is a principal with Silvicon Services Inc. and holds the position of Business Manager. Mr. Roulston is responsible for the financial management of the company, for overseeing special projects and for the organization of seasonal staff. In addition, Mr. Roulston is assigned the task of supervising professionals and technologists in the areas of forestry/environment interactions, silviculture and inventory. He has also acted as head of the forestry department of a small mill in the Prince Rupert Region on a contract basis.
Jay Baker, RFT
Diploma; Advanced Silviculture – Technical Program; University of British Columbia (FMIBC) - 2003 Mr. Baker became a principal with Silvicon Services Inc. in 2008. Mr. Baker is responsible for Forest Investment Account (FIA) administration and special projects management. As a FIA administrator, Mr. Baker is involved with the strategic planning for discretionary investments related to a broad range of land based activities, including; · fish and wildlife inventories, · ortho-photo production and TRIM II updates, · watershed restoration planning and projects, and · silviculture treatment operations.
Mr. Baker has extensive experience in contract administration and is under contract, through FCSN, to deliver silviculture training throughout the Northern Interior Forest Region. Of particular note is Mr. Baker’s participation in provincially based silviculture initiatives involving stocking standards review, forest health initiatives and changes to the "free-growing" definition. He is also involved with the training, hiring and development of new staff with many aspects of forest management
Professional Staff
Dave Louwerse, RPF
BSc. Forestry; University of British Columbia - 1994 Mr. Louwerse joined Silvicon's engineering department in 1995. Since that time he has been involved in cut block layout on a variety of terrain for conventional, helicopter and cable logging systems (including clearcut and partial cut), mainline and spur layout, cut block boundary and road traversing, completing bridge site plans, completing road designs utilizing ROADENG, assisting in the completion of Total Resource Plans and completing cutting permit applications and appraisals. Mr. Louwerse is currently working as Project Manager – Engineering with Silvicon and as such is responsible for overseeing all engineering services that Silvicon provides. Mr. Louwerse is also responsible for the management and timely completion of a large multiphase multiyear development contract with the BC Timber Sales.
Lorna Halverson, RPF
BSc. Forestry; University of Alberta - 1986 Ms. Halverson, previously employed by government agencies and within the forest industry, has been employed by Silvicon Services Inc. since 1990 as Systems Analyst. Ms. Halverson heads the company's growing computer services department and is responsible for operations involving computerized assisted drafting (CAD-Intergraph's Microstation), geographic information system processing (GIS - PAMAP), ArcView, digital terrain modeling (DTM), and database management (Microsoft Foxpro). Ms. Halverson has extensive experience with a variety of forestry oriented software programs, including cruise compilations, residue survey compilations, database management and programming, engineering packages and CAD systems.
Richard Lalonde, RFT
Mr. Lalonde has served in a variety of capacities since 1973 and brings Silvicon a vast array of industry knowledge. In addition to his role as advisor on the day-to-day operation of our company and as first aid and safety advisor, Mr. Lalonde currently supervises and schedules work for one of Silvicon's largest clients. His duties include all aspects of operational cruising and road and block layout for an area with an annual allowable cut of approximately 500 000 m3. He also assists our client with their total chance planning, forest health program and timber reconnaissance program. Mr. Lalonde is also a provincially certified G.P.S. Processor/Manager.
Derek Hetherington, RPF
Mr. Hetherington has been employed by Silvicon since 1994 and fills the dual role of Project Manager in Silvicon’s Silviculture and FIA Administration programs. Mr. Hetherington is involved with many aspects of silviculture including the prescription development and amendments and has assisted in the development of large Silviculture Opportunities Plans. In addition, Mr. Hetherington holds the position of Forest Investment Account (FIA) Administrator. As FIA administrator, Mr. Hetherington is involved with the strategic planning for discretionary investments related to a broad range of land-based activities including; · Ortho-photo production and TRIM II updates · Watershed restoration planning projects
